Connect AI assistants (MCP)

With the scango.ch MCP server, AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Grok work directly with the data of your shops. Ask for example "What were the sales of the Wattwil store last week?" or "What do I need to reorder from Aligro this week?", and the assistant gets the answer from scango.ch. With write access, it can also create products, change prices or prepare orders.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants use other programs. You use the assistant with your own account at its provider; scango.ch provides the connection. Besides Claude, ChatGPT and Grok, the server works with any program that supports MCP with OAuth sign-in.

What the assistant may do

The assistant acts on your behalf: with your organizations and your roles. Whatever you cannot do in the dashboard, it cannot do either. When connecting, you also choose the access:

  • Read only: view products, stock, purchases, statistics, financial reports, payouts, coupons and gift cards. The assistant cannot change anything.
  • Read and change: also create and change products, stock levels, supplier orders, categories, suppliers, coupons and gift cards.

The assistant can never change members, roles, API keys, the subscription or invoices. Every change appears in the audit log with your name and the app it came through, e.g. "(via Claude, claude.ai)" or "(via ChatGPT, chatgpt.com)".

You also find it in the dashboard under Profile › Connected apps. Connecting works the same in every assistant: you add the address as a connector, sign in with your scango.ch account, choose Read only or Read and change and click Allow.

Connect Claude

Claude on the web, desktop or mobile

  1. In Claude, open Settings › Connectors and click Add custom connector.
  2. Enter a name, e.g. "scango", and the address https://api.scango.ch/mcp.
  3. Click Connect. The scango.ch sign-in opens.
  4. Sign in with your scango.ch account.
  5. Choose Read only or Read and change and click Allow.

scango.ch is then available in every chat. In organizations with Claude Team or Enterprise, an owner adds the connector once for everybody; each person then connects their own scango.ch account.

The browser opens for the sign-in on first use.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins), click + and then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Enter a name, e.g. "scango", and under Connection the address https://api.scango.ch/mcp.
  3. Choose OAuth as authentication, confirm the notice and click Create as a plugin.
  4. Install the plugin. The scango.ch sign-in opens.
  5. Sign in with your scango.ch account, choose Read only or Read and change and click Allow.

In a chat, type @ and pick "scango". Before ChatGPT changes anything, it asks you to confirm.

Whether you can add your own MCP servers depends on your ChatGPT plan. In ChatGPT Business and Enterprise, an admin decides whether members may add their own servers and can enable scango.ch for the whole workspace; each person then connects their own scango.ch account.

Connect Grok

  1. In Grok, open the connectors (grok.com/connectors), click New Connector and choose Custom.
  2. Enter a name, e.g. "scango", and the address https://api.scango.ch/mcp.
  3. The scango.ch sign-in opens. Sign in with your scango.ch account.
  4. Choose Read only or Read and change and click Allow.

Grok can then use scango.ch in every chat. In Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin adds the connector once: in the xAI Console under Grok Business › Connectors › Add Connector › Other. Each person then connects their own scango.ch account under grok.com/connectors.

Other assistants

Any client that supports MCP over Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in can connect: enter the address https://api.scango.ch/mcp as a remote server or connector. The client starts the sign-in itself; you need neither an API key nor a client ID.

Examples

  • "Show me the sales of all stores last month compared to the previous year."
  • "Which products are below their minimum stock? Make an order list for the drinks."
  • "Raise the price of all products of supplier Muster by 5 centimes."
  • "Which gift cards expire this month?"

Check the changes the assistant proposes before you confirm them.

Disconnect

Under Profile › Connected apps you see all connected apps with their access, the connection date and when they were last used. Disconnect removes an app's access within a minute. To switch from Read only to Read and change, disconnect and connect the assistant again.

Only confirm a connection you just started yourself. The sign-in page shows which app is connecting and the address the confirmation goes back to, e.g. claude.ai or chatgpt.com.
