Scale

The scale stands next to the checkout. Your customers place loose goods on it, tap the product and get a label with a QR code. At the checkout they scan the label; the price is in the code.

Pair the scale

  1. In the dashboard, open Settings › Organization › Devices and click Add device.
  2. Choose the store and the type Scale, then Create code.
  3. On the scale, choose Pair till and enter the 6-digit code or scan the QR code. The code is valid for 10 minutes and works only once.

The scale then shows the products of the chosen store.

Products for the scale

The scale shows all products with Show product on scale switched on, sorted alphabetically. You don't need a separate category for this. Deactivated products and products blocked for the store do not appear.

To print a label, these products need two things:

  • Barcode: a template with 7 digits as the product key and the placeholder for the price, e.g. 2200395PPPPP?. The template is described in the Products article under "Variable barcodes: price or weight in the code". Without the key, the scale reports "This product has no valid scale barcode (7 digits)."
  • Price: the price per kilogram. The scale shows it as "CHF/kg".

Products with The product cannot be purchased also appear on the scale, but the checkout rejects their label. Switch off Show product on scale for such products.

How your customers weigh

  1. Anyone who needs a bag or tray places it empty on the scale first and taps Set as packaging. Its weight is then deducted; Clear packaging undoes this.
  2. Place the goods and wait until the weight is stable.
  3. Tap the product. The label is printed.
  4. Scan the label at the checkout.

If the scale is not used for 20 minutes, it resets and any packaging weight is cleared.

Label

The label shows the product name and amount, the weight in kg and the price per kg, the date and time, and the code as a QR code. The layout is fixed; only the paper width can be changed in the device settings under Receipt columns. The scale cannot print a label above CHF 999.95.

At the checkout:

  • The price comes from the code. Each label is its own line in the cart; the quantity cannot be changed.
  • If the product has a deposit, it is added at the checkout.
  • If the stock item has the base unit G or KG, the weight sold is deducted from stock (see Stock Management).
  • The checkout does not check whether a label was already scanned, and labels do not expire.

Scale log

Under Settings › Organization › Devices, Show scale log opens the list of all labels printed at your scales, with Time, Product, Weight, Packaging, Price/kg, Amount, Barcode and Device · Store.

Scale screen

You find these settings in the store under Appearance (see Stores):

  • Background image on the scale start screen: image shown while nothing is on the scale. The hint "Place your packaging or your product on the scale." on it is fixed.
  • Show product images on the scale screen: shows the product images on the product tiles. Products without an image get an empty area.
  • The store's Background Color and Font Color also apply on the scale.

Frequently asked questions

Do products for the scale need their own category?

No. Only Show product on scale counts.

Why doesn't the scale print a label?

Check that goods are on the scale and the weight is stable, that the product has a barcode with 7 digits as the product key, and that the amount is below CHF 1000.

Can I change the label, e.g. make it shorter or use a barcode instead of a QR code?

No. The label has a fixed layout and always carries a QR code.
